MAKER-IN-RESIDENCE COORDINATOR

Client: Brightbox Makerspace

- Day-to-day operations: updating digital online content (job adverts, blog, events), purchasing equipment, preparing tools and locations, writing risk assessments, submitting budgeting requests, liasion with partners in compliance with company policies (DBS, Code of Conduct, etc), updating project planner, KPI planner, Team channels and other internal organisation programmes

- Organised online sessions for school ‘Career Days’ as part of International Women in Engineering Day 2021. Recruited role models via direct engagement, promoted event on website and socials. Ran tech set-ups with the schools and guests.

- Designed content for coding workshops using Cospaces.edu which I delivered to local schools in Barnsley in partnership with Barnsley Libraries. Worked collaboratively with teachers to base the workshops around their current curriculum in school. I designed printed worksheets, session presentations and reference guides for children and teachers. The teachers were provided with lesson plans prior to the events, including a site visit for tech checks. The 3D environments the children built and coded were then showcased as an interactive exhibition within the Central Library.

- Project managed youth employability group ‘Breaking Ground’ at Norwood Allotments which included working with 5 different role models; Girls with Drills 5-week shed build with creche, Girls with Drills workshops as part of The Childrens University and other paid public workshops. I was involved in design, management and delivery (including hiring external facilitators and working with our partner, PXI).

- Designed 150 hours worth of training and 120 hours of programming/delivery as part of the ‘Maker-in-Residence’ circulum - a 6 month training programme for young people. This was delivered in partnership with Barnsley Libraries and working with Barnsley College students. I created the digital communications and worked collaboratively with the Library and Community leads to consolidate what the vision and outcomes of the programme would be.

- I trained Barnsley Library staff how to use Cospaces and block coding so they were able to assist with my delivery at the schools, and for future use in their own makerspaces.
